SCRIPT

Script This script is detailed so what i want to do with editing is clear and convenient to look at when i come to edit it. Fades in from black Samuel walks into the train station, on his phone texting his friends, suddenly he receives a text that seems to put a serious expression on his face. He walks over to the benches to take a seat and wait for his train. He walks onto his train, taking a seat on a table seating area on the right hand corner of the carriage against the window, filmed using a  long cut following him from behind onto his seat stopping where the table starts. He puts his headphones on, and it fills the outside sound. Inner monologue begins “I can’t believe I’ve got myself into this.” Said Samuel in a disappointed and worried tone. “I just need to get this over with and then I can be done with it. I can’t let anyone know what I’m doing because I know they wouldn’t see it in the same way I do, as a matter of fact I don’t even know how I see it” He said, obvi...

Post 13: Sound

Script The start of the film will be here, I wont be using the diegetic sound of the area because the wind was extremely loud on practice recording every time so instead ill use mild white noise. The heart beat will be a sound i use of YouTube link attached: Fades in from black Samuel walks into the train station, on his phone texting his friends, suddenly he receives a text that seems to put a serious expression on his face. Post 10: Final casting

List of the characters   Main character - Samuel although never mentions name in the short film. People on the train - I was hoping that the general public on the train would be ok with me just filming short clips of them. Samuels Mother - In a flash back   Short character profile Samuel (17 year old boy), who is also the character in the inner monologue, is an average boy from the UK who gets involved with the wrong people and has to come to a solution for his problem or face what has decided to do with himself, he is an average teenager with normal friends who has a history of being slightly mischievous, this trait he possesses has slowly grown over the course of his life and might eventually be landing him in a lot of trouble however he decides to reflect on who he would be hurting because there is still a part of him that cares.   Cast I decided to cast Sam for the role of Samuel because he suited the average British teenager well, he was ea...

Post 11: Costume and makeup

No makeup is needed in my film, I will only be talking about costumes and provide an example. Over the entire shoot I will only need one costume for the main character. The costume will consist of: A hoodie that is black/ navy A beanie Black cargos Black and white trainers The costume will develop and use over ear headphones to help signify the inner monologue that’s commencing.   The strangers on the train will be actual strangers, but as a backup I will bring 2 other older people in their late 20s to act as them, this way I have a safety net incase actual strangers wont work.   For the mother, It will just be anything out her wardrobe, preferably muted grey colors to go along with the dullness and grey settings.

Post 12: Final Props

Props: - Phone - Over ear headphones - when he puts them on the diegetic sound will become distorted and muffled symbolizing when the inner monologue will start Images of the props I want to use

Post 8: Plot outline, Basic script

Plot Outline My short film is about a teenage boy, seemingly normal, who gets involved in the wrong situation and cant decide whether or not to carry on down the path he’s going. At the same time, he does not know how to get out of the situation and wants to help himself. I want it to almost be a informational film that shows the distress that could come out of the situation, and how rough the path could get, as the character has multiple flash backs and flash forwards showing what he thinks he could be affecting like his future work or his past friendships and how it could put a stop to all of this and more. He also thinks of how it could be affecting the people around him in his community and what he thinks could happen if they got accidently involved and how it would make him feel to watch someone participate in the same self-destructive behavior. The whole film is set on a train with an inner monologue, possibly a lot of long cuts to properly show the passage of time and how ...

Post 9: Final setting

Final Setting: I have chosen for the final setting of my film to be my local train station. Due to Covid-19 I may have to film slightly later due to restrictions being lifted but i simply need the character to be on a train and i need to see the window behind them showing movement to show time passing so his decision seems hastened, i also need the actual train station but this will be easy to film without going against restrictions.

Post 6: Final ideas

Daniel Chandler's conventions of content: My film typically conforms 'Daniel chandler's conventions of context' using props, themes etc, as the genre of my film relates to drama, using the dramatic effects of long shots, elements of debating morals and other things seen in a lot of dramas, it also uses intense facial expressions and a very intense ‘Score’ towards the end to create tension as you wait for the cliff hanger. I also have realistic characters within my film, especially the protagonist as audiences can relate to them very easily. Narrative Techniques: My film challenges Todorov's narrative theory as my plot/ story does not typically follow the same path as it has a variety of flashbacks and flash-forwards to the effects and people he would be affecting. My film does not begin with the character feeling content and happy, because he’s to busy thinking about what he’s getting himself into meaning there is no equilibrium therefore naturally it is unab...
