IDEA:
My main ideas is going to follow a new comers trip on a train to collect drugs and re sell them for a profit, whilst having an inner monologue of the thoughts about what he's doing and what can happen to him and how he could ruin the lives around him.
SETTING:
The setting would be on a train or a bus with faint background noise of the bus and the outside cars to add a sense of realism as this kind of event occurs more often than though. It would be a trip spliced into three individual scenes on different areas on the bus/ train so it would seem like the character was restless
COSTUME:
My costume is going to look like the average 17 - 25 year old dress wear to show that the character is somewhat normal but is becoming involved in crime.
MAKEUP:
N/A
CINEMATOGRAPHY:
My short film will consist of a lot of medium/close up shots of the male character when he is on the train or bus. This is because these scenes highlight the characters emotions, i want to make the audience feel a sense of conflict towards their feelings for the character as they are aware its a bad thing to do but they're also aware that you cannot simply walk away from crime. I will also have a few wide shots where we can see other passengers and as he sees them he will have thoughts on how it could effect them. This is to allow the audience to clearly see that the main character knows what he was doing is wrong and he has regret, therefore building sympathy.
SOUND:
Throughout my film we will hear the non-diegetic sound of the inner monologue and the diegetic sounds of the cars and buses.
EDITING:
I want my film to consist of a variety of editing techniques, such as; cuts and transitions, fades and dissolves and L-cuts. The fades and dissolves will be shown when I change from the councillor’s officer to the flashbacks as well as the L-cuts- whilst the flashbacks are in place I will sometimes keep the audio of the female protagonist explaining her story.
AUDIENCE THEORY:
Due to the fact we don't see the 'drug deal' happen we just hear the sound of his voice, this links to Stuart Hall's audience reception theory as a dominant or preferred reading as we wont know if he goes through with it. This is because the audience will only see the male protagonist therefore they can create a relationship with him whether is good or bad.
